A Little Life Update: My Journey into Yoga Therapy and Therapeutic Yoga Teaching
Darlene Listro | JUN 4
It’s been a while since I've posted … and if you’ve been wondering what I’ve been up to lately, the honest answer is—a lot.
In the best way.
I’ve completed my Level 1 Foundations in Yoga Therapy training with Inner Peace Yoga Therapy and now have my 500-hour designation as a Registered Yoga Teacher.
This training has been a deep dive into how yoga can truly meet people where they are. As many of you know, I’m a lifelong learner at heart, and this 7-month journey has included a wide range of study areas such as:
Functional Yoga Therapy
Yoga Across the Cancer Care Continuum
Yoga of Recovery
The Subtle Body
Yoga for Stress Relief and Resilience
Pain Care Aware (PCA) certification training
Yoga for Grief
Each of these has added another layer to my understanding of how yoga can support people—not just physically, but emotionally, mentally, and in a much more subtle, energetic way too.
What I keep coming back to is how beautifully adaptable yoga really is.
And there’s no slowing down quite yet…
I’ve already begun Level 2 of my Yoga Therapy training, which includes advanced study and mentorship. This next phase will take me even deeper into areas like healthy aging for women, neurological conditions, and other therapeutic applications that feel very aligned with the direction my work is growing.
This ongoing learning continues to shape how I show up in my classes. It reinforces something I now understand - yoga isn’t just movement. It’s a way of meeting ourselves with more awareness, steadiness, and care. You can learn more about yoga therapy in my next blog post.
Thank you for being part of this evolving journey with me. I’m so grateful you’re here as it unfolds.
